Downtown New Ulm has two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations available for public use.
In 2020, New Ulm Public Utilities received a share of the Volkswagen air permit violation settlement to install a new EV charging station in the City Hall parking lot near 2nd North Street and Broadway. The new station consists of two fast chargers and two Level 2 chargers. This station is owned, operated and maintained by ZEF Energy Inc. of Edina, Minnesota.
New Ulm also has two Level 2 chargers located in the City-owned parking lot at the corner of 2nd North and German streets, across from German Park. This station is owned, operated and maintained by New Ulm Public Utilities and is part of the ChargePoint network. The charging fees for this charging station can be found here: Schedule of Electric Vehicle Charging Rates
Numerous visitors have utilized the charging stations, from the Twin Cities metro area, Indiana, West Virginia and Texas, to name a few. New Ulm hopes to see many more visitors utilizing its EV charging stations while in town!
